Had he the budget at the time, Romero would have likely used many of the visuals from the recently DVD released Land of The Dead in this film. Much of the message and underlying concepts of undead trainability, human monstrosity and the center not holding can be traced back from "Land of The Dead" to this "Day of The Dead".

The makeup and gruesome zombie special effects showed notable improvement over Dawn of The Dead, but the film was scaled back from the countrysides, overrun cities and abandoned mall we saw previously. "Day of The Dead", if nothing else, offers a linear progression of humanity after the zombie apocalypse in George Romero's strange little brain.
